My new picture is my new great grand daughter. Her grandmother is my first born, her father is my daughter's first born, my first born grandchild and the first born boy in my family from me down (I had daughters and no sons.) He father is the love of my life, and yes I spoiled him rotten. So the little one is very special to me.
I love grandchildren. They are so much fun. I can play with them, ruin them and then send them home with Mama and Daddy. Great grandchildren are more wonderful, because Mama and Daddy expect you to ruin them. They remember how you ruined them and think it was wonderful so they want there children to have that experience.

I have 1 great grandson and one great granddaughter. My great grandson was born on Nov 19, 2008 and my great granddaughter was born April 6, 2009.
My first born grandchild was a boy, after I had 4 daughters. His first child is a girl. He loves old names and named her Sadie. No one in the entire family has ever been named Sadie. If I look at a picture of my first born daughter (Sadie's grandmother) and the picture of her son at the age of Sadie. I see Sadie. All 3 of them look just alike.
My great grandson is the son of my first born granddaughter, number 2 grandchild. After I can not tell how many, brown haired, brown eyed children and grandchildren, he has blond hair and blue eyes. He is great.

OK. I have been out for 4 weeks. I am old enough. Social security earning verse what I make.
So is this Christmas season going to be that much different from the last 10 years?
Are we in for the same stuff, but worst?'
Will the next 2 months pass much as they have for the last 10 years or do I need to expect a new direction?

One yong lady went into labor at 4 months because someone rammed a buggy into her stomach, quite hard. One 85 year old little, lady snatched a computer and all accessories off a stack base as it went past her and dragged it to check out. Total mass confusion. Total, where is it? Total fight, it is the last one. Two hours later guess what turns up; 5 of the last one (dropped in soft lines, grocery, hardware, wherever. Guess they really didn't want it.

We have inventory tomorrow. They said "no overtime, get it done."
Every store in our area has shrunk more than 1%. They will not let the dept. managers have enough time to get done all that is needed. One of the dept managers had to take a leave of absence last week due to a nerveous breakdown. One of the stores in our area shrank more than a million dollars. Wonder if upper management has realized that part of that is no lose prevention and part is due to no coverage during all hours.
I am a lowly associate, once a dept manager that stepped down. My poor dept manager has already worked 40 hours this week. She is the only one that has ever been through a inventory in our whole area, soft lines. One dept. manager, who took my place has known that her child need tubes in her ears for 2 years. She decided that inventory time was the only time to do it. One dept manager has been on the job for 2 weeks, one has been filling in for 2 months.
What is Wal-Mart coming to? Dept manager take off at inventory time? When I started as dept manager we would have been forced to step down if we could not work inventory time. It is now who you are and how much pull you have, and who you can call to fill a unjustified lawsuit.

How bad is Wal-Mart? All Wal-Marts? My store?
My store has great assoicates, a lot have worked there for over 10 years. Other Wal-Marts? I can only say that once I transfered to one about 100 miles away, in the capitol of our state, MS. Within 6 weeks, I was begging my old store to take me back, I promished to never transfer again.
A lot of the associates and dept. managers I have worked with and been around so long until they are like family.
Do I have a problem with some of Wal-Mart policy? Yes. Do I have a problem with some of management? Of Course!!!!! Do I tell management when I have a problem with them, oh yes!!!! I am 64 years old. I feel like they are all my kids. They know that; except we have a new manager - I tried to tell him of a major problem, possible law suit that we had. Did he listen! NO... Did he do anything???? NO....
I still do not know what to make of him. He seems to think that we need to listen and make a stand. Has he???? NO!!!!!
Do I still like Wal-Mart????? Oh yes. This is my home away from home, with a lot of my family working here, NOT JUST FEEL LIKE FAMILY, my daughter and granddaughter work here. I got them jobs, how well they keep them is up to them.
Do I like the overall Wall-Mart??? YES!!!! Do I like everything that is done????? NO!!!!!!
So how do you feel about it?????

We all bitch and complain, I do too. There are a lot of things about Wally World that I say if Mr. Sam was still alive this would not happen.
After everything has been said, I still like the people I work with, for the most part. I still have a since of family, from the people. Yes, I think they should get rid of all of management and start over, yes management probably thinks they should get rid of all of us and start over.
I know I am a pain. I am old, drawing ss. I want to work my 27 hours a week, have 6 weeks of leave time each year so my salary does not go over my allowed earnings. Do they work with me, yes. Do I want to complain about the things they do wrong, yes. Would another store put up with me, I doubt it. Do I after everything is said and done like my job, YES.
I have been everything from a stocker to a dept. manager. Basically I still enjoy working for Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart changes, with the time. Can I say that the changes are all bad. No, I can't. I see mistake they are making, hiring part-time workers in place of full time workers. Give them full time and they are more loyal, you control their benefits. Not letting each store do the schedule. Each person is unique.

We have a dept. manager in our store that fell off a ladder the first part of Dec. She did not go to the dr. right away, but reported the accident. Two days later she could not move and went to the dr. and she paid. It turns out, she had witnesses, that falling across the fork life had knocked 2 vertebra out of place. She finally after a month got to go to the dr. to see what was wrong under workman'scomp. She came back with a light duty excuse. What did management do??? Nothing. She still slung freight, did all her work with no help, not even someone to zone her areas. Tuesday I talked to our assistant and told her that I could not believe that she was making this dept manager come in at night to put out freight for another, lazy, dept. manager when this dept manager was on light duty because of workman's comp.
I had told ass. manager something like this 3 different times, and the store manager, and the co this same thing. Nothing had happened. This time I suggested the ass. check the dept. manager's personnel fine to see about this.
The next day the store manager put her on light duty. Made her sign a paper that said what she would do until this was taken care of. Today the ass came up and in front of me told her she had freight on the floor and late mods. that she needed to take care of.
They are not paying her mileage to go to the dr. She has to have surgery to put rod in her spine. They told her she will have to take a leave of absence and pay her own insurance during the time she is off. She only gets a percent of her salary. Wal-Mart did this to her but she pays for it in the long run. I have always been a totally devoted employee, Wal-Mart was the best, but now I wonder??????? They don't give a ____ about us.

Can anyone tell me anything about the new policies about department managers, especially in soft lines? Which dept. managers will they get rid of? What will be their new hours? Right now we have one over men and boys, one over ladies, one over babies and girls, and one over accessories. We work 7 until 4, Mon through Fri. We have no help, not even someone to zone each area, we have 2 processors who never get the freight done. The dept. managers are just stockers who do price changes and mods. and zone. The stress level at our store is terrible. We are down to half staff, and they are not hiring. The sales floor associates work as cashiers, because there are no cashiers.
The talk is that it will be like when we had zone managers. That didn't work before so why do they think it will work now.

Are any other stores having our problem? They layed off the last workers they hired, any who quit are not replaced. Our softlines has 4 dept. managers, a phone operator, and 5 part time zoners. Men's wear has not been cleaned up in over 3 weeks, ladies wear has 2 part time (we work 28 hours a week even though we are full time) who both work Sat. and Sun. during the day, plus supposedly 2 evening a week each. Baby's has 2 part time zoners. There is a part time phone operator. Does anyone know what Dirt Cheap is? That is what our depts. look like. I am suppose to be in ladies wear, but since I stepped down as men's dept manager and the new dept manager can't do it our assistant manager makes me work during the day to put out her freight. Our processor don't process. One is suppose be work men's and one baby's. Both are as slow as Christmas. They never finish. I have work processing and zoning and dept manager. I know what can be done. I had a heart attack trying to keep up men's wear by myself. No one is doing their jobs. The store keeps sinking deeper and deeper. Our fashion merchandiser just laughs when you try to tell her. Our distract manager just smiles and tells you his problems.
Help!!!!!!!! My store is falling apart and no one cares.
